DISABILITY VISIBILITY is a collection of first-person stories from nearly forty contributors, compiled and edited by disabled activist and writer, Alice Wong. From personal essays, to eulogies, to testimonies, this wonderful anthology gives a glimpse into the rich complexity of the disabled experience—highlighting the passions, talents and everyday lives of this diverse community.
One in five people in the US lives with a disability, yet we hardly ever acknowledge the ableism that runs rampant in our society. As an able-bodied person married to someone with a chronic disease, this book gave me an opportunity to broaden my lens & question my own understanding about what it’s like to live with a disability in America.
