Earlier this month, an arm of Penguin Books released their own edition of the same defiant Iranian masterpiece that Feminist Press has had available since 2012. Women Without Men is a vision of freedom and mystical matriarchy, of women from all paths of life tending one another as they do a garden on the outskirts of Tehran.
First published in Persian in 1989, this stunning work of fiction was quickly banned. Shahrnush Parsipur was imprisoned. Yet still she writes, always dreaming of more than this.
